Delft, den Haag and Leiden
Although we didn't bike much today (I think 25 km was all), we had a very busy day. We started with a visit to the Delft pottery factory, then we spent some free time in Delft (home of the artist Vermeer). Afterward we biked to den Haag, the administrative capital of the Netherlands. The museum there has some of Vermeer's paintings. We also saw the seat of government, the international law courts and some awesome sand sculptures which depicted some of the most famous art in Holland. They put the Cannon Beach sand sculpture contest to shame. After that we biked along the sand dunes along the North Sea coast up to Leiden, where we will spend the night. Leiden is the town from which the Pilgrims set sail for England, and then further to the USA. Pictures to follow in next post. The signal on the boat is rather weak, so uploading photos is somewhat difficult. Will do after dinner.
